What is being studied?
This small before-and-after study is examining the safety and possible clinical and biological effects of oral lamivudine in ten people with Rett syndrome. Researchers will assess symptoms, function, quality of life, seizures and laboratory biomarkers.
Lamivudine is normally an antiviral medicine. Its use for Rett syndrome is investigational and enrolment is currently by invitation.
